Duckworth Prestex’s origin story spans back almost a century. The Duckworth family business, Prestons, was founded back in 1869 in Bolton. The firm began making pocket watches in the 1920s, which were branded under the name of ‘Prestex’.
Despite its success, the Prestex brand was discontinued in the 1960s to prioritise other ventures through Prestons. After 20 years of mourning, Neil Duckworth decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and revive the Prestex brand. Using experience from his long career in watchmaking, Duckworth launched ‘Duckworth Prestex’ to pay homage to both his family and the former beloved Prestex brand.
Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the first Prestex pocket watch, the Centenary collection oozes Art Deco flair. It is based on an original Prestex from 1935. The Centenary isn’t just a fantastic value proposition, but an equally great encapsulation of Duckworth Prestex’s surprisingly enviable heritage.
Core Features of the Duckworth Prestex Centenary Collection: The Centenary combines the elegance of a rectangular case with original ‘Bolton’ numerals. Double-bridged sapphire crystal glass protects the dial of each watch. Each model is individually numbered on the steel case back.
Each model has a water resistance that makes it suitable for daily wear. Model Specifications D803-07-D: Measuring 24mm, the rectangular stainless steel case frames a salmon pink dial. The dial exhibits blue-coloured hands and applied Bolton-font indies.
A rectangular small seconds sub-dial is located at the 6 o’clock position. Functions on the watch include hours, minutes and seconds. The polished 5.5mm crown showcases a ‘D’ for Duckworth Prestex.
Securing the watch to the wrist is a blue leather strap. The watch is water resistant up to 50 metres (5 bar). Movement type - Swiss quartz.
